The Magnificent One
The Magnificent, the Supreme, whose greatness has no rival and no measure.
Al-Adheem is the One whose magnificence the heavens and the earth cannot contain and the mind cannot wrap itself around. Every created greatness, mountains, empires, stars, is borrowed, bounded, and temporary. His is intrinsic, boundless, and everlasting.

From the Quran & Hadith
From the root ʿayn-dha-mim (ع ظ م), which carries the classical Arabic connotations of being great, vast, and magnificent; imposing, powerful, and superior; and possessing immense rank and grandeur. From the same root comes ʿadhm, bone: the frame and substance of a thing. Al-Adheem is greatness in essence, not by comparison; everything else is small next to Him, and He is great next to nothing.
The Name at the summit of Ayat al-Kursi
The greatest verse of the Quran ends by joining this Name with Al-Aliyy: 'His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Magnificent' (Quran 2:255). After the verse has described His life, His knowledge, His dominion, and His preservation of all things, the two closing Names seal it: exalted above everything, magnificent beyond everything.
The Name you say in every ruku
When the Prophet ﷺ received the command 'So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great' (Quran 56:96), he taught the ummah to place it in the bowing of every prayer: subḥāna rabbiya-l-ʿadhīm, 'Glorified is my Lord, the Magnificent.' Think what this means: the physical posture of lowering your back is matched to the verbal declaration of His greatness. Muslims say this Name, at minimum, dozens of times a day; it is the most repeated testimony of magnificence on earth.
Wasiʿa kursiyyuhu-s-samāwāti wa-l-arḍ, wa lā ya'ūduhu ḥifdhuhumā, wa huwa-l-ʿAliyyu-l-ʿAdhīm.

Fa-sabbiḥ bi-smi rabbika-l-ʿadhīm.

The Prophet ﷺ said: 'There are two statements that are light on the tongue, heavy on the scale, and beloved to the Most Merciful: SubhanAllahi wa bihamdih, SubhanAllahil-Adheem (Glorified is Allah and praised is He; Glorified is Allah, the Magnificent).'
Modern life shrinks our sense of scale: screens a hand wide, problems that fill the whole sky of the mind. Al-Adheem restores proportion. Stand under a night sky and remember that every star is His handiwork and His Kursi extends beyond all of it; then look again at the worry that felt infinite this morning. Nothing that fits inside a day is bigger than the One who holds all days. And let the tongue keep the proportion fresh: two phrases, light to say, heavy on the scale, beloved to the Most Merciful. Glorified is Allah and praised is He; Glorified is Allah, the Magnificent. Whoever repeats them walks through an enormous world with an even greater Lord.
