The Most High
The Most High, exalted above all of creation and every imperfection.
Al-Aliyy is high above all: above every rank, every conception, every attribute of weakness that touches created things. Whatever loftiness exists in creation, of prophets, angels, mountains, or heavens, sits infinitely beneath His highness.

From the Quran & Hadith
From the root ʿayn-lam-waw (ع ل و), which carries the classical Arabic connotations of being high, elevated, and lofty; being exalted above; and rising, ascending, and surmounting. His highness is not spatial altitude but absolute exaltedness: above every limitation, every deficiency, and every comparison.
Sealed into the greatest verse
Ayat al-Kursi, the greatest verse of the Quran, closes with this Name: 'and He is the Most High, the Magnificent' (Quran 2:255). Al-Aliyy and Al-Adheem arrive together after the verse has surveyed His living dominion, as the only fitting conclusion. The pairing repeats in Surah ash-Shura: 'To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, and He is the Most High, the Magnificent' (Quran 42:4).
The Name of your sujood
The Prophet ﷺ placed this Name at the lowest point of the prayer: in prostration, forehead on the ground, the worshipper says subḥāna rabbiya-l-aʿlā, 'Glorified is my Lord, the Most High.' The design is deliberate and beautiful: at your physically lowest, you declare Him highest, and in that meeting of your lowness and His highness sits the closest a servant comes to his Lord. Surah al-A'la opens with the same command: 'Exalt the name of your Lord, the Most High' (Quran 87:1).
Wa lā ya'ūduhu ḥifdhuhumā, wa huwa-l-ʿAliyyu-l-ʿAdhīm.
“And their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Magnificent.”
Sabbiḥi-sma rabbika-l-aʿlā.
“Exalt the name of your Lord, the Most High.”
Dhālika bi-anna-llāha huwa-l-ḥaqqu wa anna mā yadʿūna min dūnihi-l-bāṭilu wa anna-llāha huwa-l-ʿAliyyu-l-Kabīr.
“That is because Allah is the Truth, and that which they call upon other than Him is falsehood, and because Allah is the Most High, the Grand.”
Whatever you look up to shapes you. People organize their lives around whatever they have placed highest: an income, a person's approval, a version of themselves. Al-Aliyy re-architects the skyline. When He alone is highest, every other height becomes walkable ground: bosses are just people, trends are just weather, and no closed door on earth is the final word, because appeals always run upward. Live the Name in the prostration where it belongs. The lower you are willing to bring yourself before Al-Aliyy, in sujood, in humility, in surrendered ego, the higher He raises you among His creation. The mathematics of exaltation in Islam runs exactly opposite to the world's: descend before the Most High, and you rise.
