Al-Kabeer is the One whose greatness dwarfs all imagined greatness. The takbir that opens every prayer, punctuates every adhan, and crowns every Eid is this Name in motion: a civilization-wide reflex of putting everything else second.

From the Quran & Hadith
From the root kaf-ba-ra (ك ب ر), which carries the classical Arabic connotations of being great in size, rank, and dignity; being vast and formidable; and surpassing in greatness. From this root the ummah takes its most repeated declaration: Allāhu akbar, Allah is greater, greater than whatever was just occupying your attention.
Knower of the seen and unseen
The Quran joins this Name to His complete knowledge: 'He is the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, the Grand, the Exalted' (Quran 13:9). Human greatness is always partial because human knowledge is partial: every great figure was great at some things, ignorant of most. His greatness rests on knowing all of the seen and unseen at once; nothing sits outside the field of the Great One's awareness.
The truth against every false claimant
Twice the Quran concludes the argument against everything worshipped besides Him with this pairing: 'That is because Allah is the Truth, and that which they call upon other than Him is falsehood, and because Allah is the Most High, the Grand' (Quran 22:62, 31:30). Every rival claim to greatness, idols then, ideologies and idols of self now, collapses under the comparison the takbir makes five times a day.

Dhālika bi-anna-llāha huwa-l-ḥaqqu wa anna mā yadʿūna min dūnihi huwa-l-bāṭilu wa anna-llāha huwa-l-ʿAliyyu-l-Kabīr.

Allāhu akbar is unfinished by design: greater than what? Than whatever is in front of you. Greater than the meeting you are anxious about, the deadline, the diagnosis, the argument replaying in your head. The takbir is a tool handed to you dozens of times a day for resizing the world, and most of us say it without letting it do its work. Try letting it. When the phone's noise feels enormous, Allāhu akbar. When wealth or status parade themselves as ultimate, Allāhu akbar. When your own self swells, Allāhu akbar, and it is not you. The believer who means the takbir walks through life with everything in its true size: one thing Great, and everything else, mercifully, small.
Allāhu akbaru kabīran wa-l-ḥamdu lillāhi kathīrā
Allah is the Greatest, truly great, and abundant praise belongs to Allah.
