From the root mim-jim-dal (م ج د), which carries the classical Arabic connotations of glory, honor, and exalted dignity, specifically the kind of glory that flows from nobility of character and abundant generosity together. When the angels gave Sarah the news of Ishaq, they closed with this Name: 'The mercy of Allah and His blessings be upon you, people of the house. Indeed, He is Praiseworthy and Glorious (Ḥamīdun Majīd)' (Quran 11:73). Glorious Throne, glorious Quran
