A compound Name joining two roots: jim-lam-lam (ج ل ل), majesty, glory, and awe-inspiring greatness, and kaf-ra-mim (ك ر م), generosity, nobility, and the honoring of others. Dhul-Jalaali wal-Ikraam is the Owner of both at once: the majesty that makes hearts tremble and the generous honoring that makes them run to Him anyway.
The Name that survives the end
Surah ar-Rahman gives this Name the last word over existence: 'All that is upon the earth will perish, and there will remain the Face of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor' (Quran 55:26-27), and again as the surah closes: 'Blessed is the name of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor' (55:78). When everything that could be described has ended, the description that remains is this one: majesty, and generosity, forever.
Hold fast to it, said the Prophet ﷺ
The Prophet ﷺ singled this Name out with a unique instruction: 'Alidhdhū bi-Yā Dha-l-Jalāli wa-l-Ikrām', hold fast to, persist with, 'O Owner of Majesty and Honor' (Jami at-Tirmidhi 3525). And after every salam of every prayer he would say: 'O Allah, You are Peace and from You is peace. Blessed are You, O Owner of Majesty and Honor' (Sahih Muslim 592). A Name prescribed for repetition, threaded into the ummah's daily liturgy at the close of every prayer.
Kullu man ʿalayhā fān. Wa yabqā wajhu rabbika dhu-l-jalāli wa-l-ikrām.

Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his prayer, he would seek forgiveness three times and say: 'O Allah, You are Peace and from You is peace. Blessed are You, O Owner of Majesty and Honor.'
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Hold fast to: Yā Dha-l-Jalāli wa-l-Ikrām.'
Healthy faith breathes with two lungs: awe and hope. Awe alone hardens into terror that keeps its distance; hope alone softens into casualness that forgets whom it addresses. This Name is the complete respiratory system, majesty and generosity inhaled together, which is surely why the Prophet ﷺ said: hold fast to it. So build it into your day where he built it: after every prayer, in the moments between tasks, at the pivots of fear and hope. And model the pairing at your human scale: let people find in you both gravity and generosity, principles that do not bend beside a hand that always gives. That combination, so rare in people, is the shadow of this Name on a life.
