The Source of All Benefit
The Benefiter, who alone loads the means of the world with their usefulness.
An-Naafi benefits whom He wills through causes and without them. The same medicine cures one patient and fails another; the same strategy enriches one trader and ruins his neighbor. The variable the world cannot model is this Name: benefit obeys its Owner, not its container.

From the Quran & Hadith
From the root nun-fa-ayn (ن ف ع), which carries the classical Arabic connotations of benefit, profit, and usefulness flowing to another. An-Naafi is the source of every advantage that ever reached anyone: the nutrition in food, the healing in medicine, the profit in trade, the light in knowledge. Means carry benefit; only He deposits it in them.
The pair that completes tawhid
The Quran repeatedly challenges false objects of worship with the double test: 'Do you worship besides Allah that which holds for you no benefit and no harm?' (Quran 21:66). Benefit and harm are divinity's credentials, and both belong to One. The believer's creed, taught to Ibn Abbas as a boy: 'if the whole nation gathered to benefit you, they would not benefit you except with what Allah had written for you' (Jami at-Tirmidhi 2516).
Seek the benefit, from its Source
The Prophet ﷺ turned this Name into a life instruction: 'Be eager for what benefits you, seek help from Allah, and do not give up' (Sahih Muslim 2664). Eagerness for benefit, yes, but coupled to istiʿānah, asking the Benefiter. The believer works the means hard and worships none of them, because he has watched means fail when unaccompanied by their Owner's permission.
Wa in yamsaska-llāhu bi-ḍurrin falā kāshifa lahu illā hū, wa in yuridka bi-khayrin falā rādda li-faḍlih.
“And if Allah should touch you with adversity, there is no remover of it except Him; and if He intends for you good, then there is no repeller of His bounty.”
Qāla a-fa-taʿbudūna min dūni-llāhi mā lā yanfaʿukum shay'an wa lā yaḍurrukum.
“He said: Then do you worship instead of Allah that which does not benefit you at all or harm you?”
The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Be eager for what benefits you, seek help from Allah, and do not give up.'
Modern life is benefit-optimization: supplements, strategies, hacks, plans. An-Naafi does not forbid the optimizing; He de-deifies it. Take the medicine asking the Benefiter to load it; make the investment asking the Benefiter to bless it; and watch anxiety fall away from the means, because their performance was never really theirs. Then apply the Prophet's ﷺ ranking to yourself: the most beloved people to Allah are the most beneficial to people. Become a means An-Naafi likes to use: knowledge that helps, wealth that lifts, presence that eases. A believer's ambition, compressed: to die having been a reliable delivery route for the Benefiter's shipments.
Allāhumma-nfaʿnī bimā ʿallamtanī wa ʿallimnī mā yanfaʿunī wa zidnī ʿilmā
O Allah, benefit me by what You have taught me, teach me what benefits me, and increase me in knowledge.
