The Trustee, to whom affairs are handed and by whom they are perfected.
Al-Wakeel takes charge of what His servants entrust to Him and manages it better than they could have managed it themselves. Human agents are limited by competence, honesty, and stamina; the Trustee of the heavens has no such limits.

From the Quran & Hadith
From the root waw-kaf-lam (و ك ل), which carries the classical Arabic connotations of entrusting one's affairs to another; appointing a guardian or agent; relying and depending upon; and managing affairs on another's behalf. A wakīl is the one you hand the file to. Al-Wakeel is the only Trustee whose management never fails the trust, and tawakkul, reliance upon Him, is the transaction this Name invites.
The sentence of Ibrahim and of Uhud
Ḥasbuna-llāhu wa niʿma-l-wakīl, 'Sufficient for us is Allah, and He is the best Disposer of affairs', is the sentence of the tested. The Companions said it when told armies had gathered against them, 'and they returned with favor from Allah and bounty, no harm having touched them' (Quran 3:173-174). Ibn Abbas taught that Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said the same words when thrown into the fire (Sahih al-Bukhari 4563), and the fire was commanded to coolness. The file handed fully to Al-Wakeel comes back stamped with a resolution no human agent could draft.
Tawakkul is not passivity
'And rely upon Allah; and sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs' (Quran 33:3). The Prophet ﷺ corrected forever the misreading of this Name when he told the man to tie his camel first, then rely on Allah. Tawakkul is the heart's transaction, not the body's resignation: you deploy every means He gave you, and you deposit the outcome with Him. Work like the means matter; rest like they never decided anything.
Ḥasbuna-llāhu wa niʿma-l-wakīl.
“Sufficient for us is Allah, and He is the best Disposer of affairs.”
Wa tawakkal ʿala-llāh, wa kafā bi-llāhi wakīlā.
“And rely upon Allah; and sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.”
Allāhu khāliqu kulli shay', wa huwa ʿalā kulli shay'in wakīl.
“Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is, over all things, Disposer of affairs.”
Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'If you were to rely upon Allah with true reliance, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds: they go out hungry in the morning and return full in the evening.'
Anxiety is usually a management problem: carrying files that were never yours to process, other people's choices, tomorrow's outcomes, the past's replays. Tawakkul is the daily discipline of handing the un-carriable files to the only Office that processes them perfectly. The birds in the hadith still fly out every morning; they just fly without ulcers. Start with tonight's heaviest file. Do what is actually yours in it, then say ḥasbiya-llāhu wa niʿma-l-wakīl over the rest, and mean the resignation of the outcome. People who live this Name are unmistakable: they work hard and sleep well, strive fully and clutch nothing, because their affairs have a Trustee whose record is perfect.
