What Does Salah (صَلَاة) Mean in the Quran?
The root carries connection and turning toward. The salah is the believer's standing connection with Allah, and salla also gives us the salawat upon the Prophet ﷺ.

Inside the Quran
Salah is the prescribed prayer, the five daily meetings that the Quran almost never mentions alone, aqimus-salah, establish the prayer, is the standing command, usually paired with giving zakah.
In the mushaf you will see it written with a waw, ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ, an old Uthmani spelling worth recognising early, because you will meet this word constantly, in the Quran and five times a day in your own life.
“And establish prayer and give zakāh and bow with those who bow [in worship and obedience].”
“Recite, [O Muḥammad], what has been revealed to you of the Book and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allāh is greater. And Allāh knows that which you do.”
“Indeed, I am Allāh. There is no deity except Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance.”
