Inside the Quran

The Quran constantly addresses people by what they do: alladhina amanu, those who believe, alladhina kafaru, those who disbelieve, alladhina ya'maluna s-salihat, those who do righteous deeds. This one word opens all of those phrases.

It is among the most frequent words in the whole Quran, so recognising it instantly makes long ayat feel much shorter, it tells you a description of a group is coming.

See it in real ayat

And give good tidings to those who believe and do righteous deeds that they will have gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow. Whenever they are provided with a provision of fruit therefrom, they will say, "This is what we were provided with before." And it is given to them in likeness. And they will have therein purified spouses, and they will abide therein eternally.

The believers are only those who, when Allāh is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely -

Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.
