Duas for blessings & gratitude. When you've been given something
When Allah gives, the right response is shukr — gratitude with words and with actions. These supplications anchor gratitude in the moment so it doesn't slip into entitlement.
Rabbi awzi'ni an ashkura ni'mataka-llati an'amta 'alayya wa 'ala walidayy, wa an a'mala salihan tardahu, wa aslih li fi dhurriyyati, inni tubtu ilayka wa inni mina-l-muslimin.
“My Lord, inspire me to be grateful for the favour You have bestowed on me and on my parents, and to do righteousness of which You approve, and make righteous for me my offspring. Indeed, I have turned to You, and I am among the Muslims.”
Quran 46:15
The dua of one reaching maturity (forty). A complete prayer for gratitude, parents, good deeds, and children who will carry the good forward.
Rabbi a'udhu bika mina-l-kasali wa su'i-l-kibar. Rabbi a'udhu bika min 'adhabin fi-n-nar wa 'adhabin fi-l-qabr.
“We have entered the morning, and the dominion belongs to Allah. Praise is for Allah. There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is able to do all things. My Lord, I ask You for the good of this day and the good of what comes after it, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of this day and the evil of what comes after it. My Lord, I seek refuge in You from laziness and the wretchedness of old age. My Lord, I seek refuge in You from punishment in the Fire and punishment in the grave.”
Rabbi a'udhu bika mina-l-kasali wa su'i-l-kibar. Rabbi a'udhu bika min 'adhabin fi-n-nar wa 'adhabin fi-l-qabr.
“We have entered the evening, and the dominion belongs to Allah. Praise is for Allah. There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is able to do all things. My Lord, I ask You for the good of this night and the good of what comes after it, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of this night and the evil of what comes after it. My Lord, I seek refuge in You from laziness and the wretchedness of old age. My Lord, I seek refuge in You from punishment in the Fire and punishment in the grave.”
Allahumma lakal-hamdu anta kasawtanihi, as'aluka min khayrihi wa khayri ma suni'a lahu, wa a'udhu bika min sharrihi wa sharri ma suni'a lah
“O Allah, to You is the praise, You have clothed me with this. I ask You for its goodness and the goodness of what it was made for, and I seek refuge from its evil and the evil of what it was made for.”
