Al Khabeer
The All-Aware
The All-Aware, the One acquainted with the inner reality of all things.
Al-Khabeer knows not only what happens but what it truly is: the motive under the act, the state under the face, the secret under the announcement. Nothing has an inside He does not see from within.
Mentions of Al Khabeer
From the Quran & Hadith
From the root kha-ba-ra (خ ب ر), which carries the classical Arabic connotations of knowing the inner, hidden reality of a thing; being acquainted with the true state of affairs; and knowledge verified as if by direct experience. Where ʿilm is knowledge in its breadth, khibrah is knowledge in its depth: the inside of things.
The companion of Al-Lateef
Al-Khabeer is most often heard alongside Al-Lateef: 'He is the Subtle, the Acquainted' (Quran 67:14). The pairing completes a circuit: the Subtle One reaches into the fine grain of things, and the All-Aware knows that fine grain entirely. It also frequently accompanies Al-Aleem, as in the verse of nobility: 'Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted' (Quran 49:13). Taqwa lives in the heart, so only the One acquainted with hearts can rank it.
None can inform you like Him
The Quran closes an argument about the false gods with a phrase that became proverbial: 'And none can inform you like one who is All-Aware' (Quran 35:14). Every other report you will ever receive is second-hand, filtered, partial. What Allah tells you about Himself, about the world, and about yourself is the only account written from complete awareness. It is the difference between reading a review and hearing from the maker.
Alā yaʿlamu man khalaqa wa huwa-l-Laṭīfu-l-Khabīr.
“Does He who created not know, while He is the Subtle, the Acquainted?”
Wa lā yunabbi'uka mithlu khabīr.
“And none can inform you like one who is All-Aware.”
Yā ayyuha-n-nāsu innā khalaqnākum min dhakarin wa unthā wa jaʿalnākum shuʿūban wa qabā'ila li-taʿārafū. Inna akramakum ʿinda-llāhi atqākum. Inna-llāha ʿAlīmun Khabīr.
“O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.”
Al-Khabeer is the end of every mask. People can misjudge you for a lifetime, and people can be fooled by you for a lifetime; neither changes your standing by a hair, because the One who ranks hearts reads them from the inside. This is terror for hypocrisy and deep rest for sincerity: the intention you could never prove to anyone is fully documented. So work on the interior. Polish the motive, not just the act; repair the grudge, not just the greeting. And when you need to understand your own tangled heart, ask the One acquainted with it: none can inform you like the All-Aware.
Yā Khabīr, aṣliḥ sarā'iranā wa niyyātinā
O Al-Khabeer, set right our inner selves and our intentions.
