The Guide
The Guide, who shows every creature its way, and hearts their Lord.
Al-Haadi guides the bee to the blossom, the newborn to the breast, the stars in their courses, and, His greatest guidance, the wandering soul to Himself. The most repeated request in the ummah's life, seventeen times daily at minimum, is addressed to this Name: guide us on the straight path.

From the Quran & Hadith
From the root ha-dal-ya (ه د ي), which carries the classical Arabic connotations of guiding, showing the way, and leading gently to the destination. Hidāyah in the scholars' analysis has levels: the guidance of explanation, showing the road, which prophets and books deliver; and the guidance of tawfīq, placing the traveler's feet on it, which no one grants but Al-Haadi Himself.
The guidance no one else can give
Allah drew the boundary for His own Messenger ﷺ over the uncle he loved: 'Indeed, you do not guide whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills' (Quran 28:56). Even prophetic eloquence stops at the heart's door; only Al-Haadi has the key. The etiquette that follows: dawah with excellence and duas without limit, arrogance toward the misguided never, for the guided walk on gift, not merit.
Sufficient as Guide and Helper
'And sufficient is your Lord as Guide and Helper', hādiyan wa naṣīrā (Quran 25:31). The pairing answers the fear that follows every choice of the straight path: opposition. He who put you on the road walks it with you as ally. And the road itself is maintained: 'And those who are guided, He increases them in guidance' (Quran 47:17). Guidance compounds; every step taken in it purchases the next.
Innaka lā tahdī man aḥbabta wa lākinna-llāha yahdī man yashā'. Wa huwa aʿlamu bi-l-muhtadīn.
“Indeed, you do not guide whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills. And He is most knowing of the rightly guided.”
Wa kafā bi-rabbika hādiyan wa naṣīrā.
“And sufficient is your Lord as Guide and Helper.”
Ihdina-ṣ-ṣirāṭa-l-mustaqīm.
“Guide us on the straight path.”
The Prophet ﷺ taught Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) to say: 'O Allah, guide me and set me aright', and in another wording: 'and remember, by guidance, your guiding of the road, and by rightness, the straightness of the arrow.'
You ask for guidance seventeen times a day in Al-Fatihah, and the repetition is the lesson: guidance is not a possession acquired once but a supply line renewed constantly. The moment a heart declares itself safely guided and closes the request, drift begins. The guided are precisely the ones still asking. And remember the division of labor with the people you ache to see guided, the child, the parent, the friend: yours is the beautiful example and the persistent dua; the heart-turning belongs to Al-Haadi alone. This division saves dawah from despair and love from becoming coercion. Hidayah's timing is His; some of the ummah's greatest were guided in their fortieth year, against every visible odd.
