أَدْعِيَةُ السَّفَرِ
Boarding, the road, arriving in a new town, and the return home. The Prophet's ﷺ words for every step of the journey.
اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ، وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ فِي سَفَرِنَا هَذَا الْبِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَى، وَمِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تَرْضَى، اللَّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا سَفَرَنَا هَذَا وَاطْوِ عَنَّا بُعْدَهُ، اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ، وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ، وَكَآبَةِ الْمَنْظَرِ، وَسُوءِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ فِي الْمَالِ وَالْأَهْلِ
Allahu Akbar (×3). Subhana-lladhi sakhkhara lana hadha wa ma kunna lahu muqrinin, wa inna ila Rabbina la-munqalibun. Allahumma inna nas'aluka fi safarina hadha-l-birra wa-t-taqwa, wa mina-l-'amali ma tarda. Allahumma hawwin 'alayna safarana hadha wa-twi 'anna bu'dah. Allahumma anta-s-sahibu fi-s-safar, wa-l-khalifatu fi-l-ahl. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min wa'tha'i-s-safar, wa ka'abati-l-mandhar, wa su'i-l-munqalabi fi-l-mali wa-l-ahl.
Allah (SWT) is the greatest (×3). Glory to the One who has subjected this to us, we could never have done it ourselves; and surely to our Lord we are returning. O Allah (SWT), we ask You in this journey of ours for righteousness, piety, and deeds You are pleased with. O Allah (SWT), make this journey easy for us and fold up its distance. O Allah (SWT), You are the Companion on the journey and the Guardian of the family left behind. O Allah (SWT), I seek refuge in You from the hardship of travel, from a distressing sight, and from an ill turn in wealth or family on my return.
The Prophet ﷺ said this when settled on his mount for a journey. Recite when boarding a plane, car, ship, or any ride.

Open this dua →اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ السَّمَاوَاتِ السَّبْعِ وَمَا أَظْلَلْنَ، وَرَبَّ الْأَرَضِينَ السَّبْعِ وَمَا أَقْلَلْنَ، وَرَبَّ الشَّيَاطِينِ وَمَا أَضْلَلْنَ، وَرَبَّ الرِّيَاحِ وَمَا ذَرَيْنَ، أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَ هَذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ وَخَيْرَ أَهْلِهَا وَخَيْرَ مَا فِيهَا، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا وَشَرِّ أَهْلِهَا وَشَرِّ مَا فِيهَا
Allahumma Rabba-s-samawati-s-sab'i wa ma adhlaln, wa Rabba-l-aradina-s-sab'i wa ma aqlaln, wa Rabba-sh-shayatini wa ma adlaln, wa Rabba-r-riyahi wa ma dharayn, as'aluka khayra hadhihi-l-qaryati wa khayra ahliha wa khayra ma fiha, wa a'udhu bika min sharriha wa sharri ahliha wa sharri ma fiha.
O Allah (SWT), Lord of the seven heavens and all they shade, Lord of the seven earths and all they carry, Lord of the devils and all they lead astray, Lord of the winds and all they scatter. I ask You for the good of this town, the good of its people, and the good of what is in it; and I seek refuge in You from its evil, the evil of its people, and the evil of what is in it.
Said upon sighting or entering a town on the journey.

A'udhu bi-kalimati-llahi-t-tammati min sharri ma khalaq.
I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah (SWT) from the evil of what He has created.
The Prophet ﷺ said: whoever stops at a place and says this, nothing will harm him until he departs from it.

Open this dua →آيِبُونَ تَائِبُونَ عَابِدُونَ لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ
Ayibuna, ta'ibuna, 'abiduna, li-Rabbina hamidun.
We return, we repent, we worship, and we praise our Lord.
The Prophet ﷺ would say takbir three times on every high ground on the way back, then recite this.
