The closing verses of Al 'Imran on rising at night
Truly, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and in the alternation of night and day there are signs for people of understanding: those who remember Allah standing, sitting and lying on their sides, and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth: "Our Lord, You did not create all this without purpose. Glory be to You! Protect us from the punishment of the Fire. Our Lord, whoever You admit into the Fire You have truly disgraced, and the wrongdoers will have no helpers. Our Lord, we have heard a caller calling to faith, saying, 'Believe in your Lord,' and we believed. Our Lord, forgive us our sins, wipe away our misdeeds, and take our souls in the company of the righteous. Our Lord, grant us what You promised us through Your messengers, and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection. You never break Your promise." And their Lord answered them: "I will not let the deeds of any one of you go to waste, male or female; you are of one another. Those who emigrated, were driven from their homes, were harmed in My way, fought and were killed, I will surely wipe away their misdeeds and admit them into gardens beneath which rivers flow, as a reward from Allah. With Allah is the best reward." Do not be deceived by the movement of the disbelievers through the land. It is a brief enjoyment, then their refuge is Hell, and what a wretched resting place. But those who are mindful of their Lord will have gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding there forever, a welcome from Allah, and what is with Allah is best for the righteous. And among the People of the Book are some who believe in Allah and in what was sent down to you and what was sent down to them, humble before Allah, not selling the verses of Allah for a small price. Their reward is with their Lord. Allah is swift in reckoning. O you who believe, be patient, outlast others in patience, stand firm, and be mindful of Allah, so that you may succeed.
