Du'a 2 · Daily-life du'as
After it rains
مُطِرْنَا بِفَضْلِ اللَّهِ وَرَحْمَتِهِ
Mutirna bi-fadli-llahi wa rahmatih.
“We have been given rain by the grace of Allah and His mercy.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 846, Sahih Muslim 71
The Prophet ﷺ corrected those who attributed the rain to the stars: we name the giver, not the channel.

When you hear thunder
سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي يُسَبِّحُ الرَّعْدُ بِحَمْدِهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ مِنْ خِيفَتِهِ
Subhana-lladhi yusabbihu-r-ra'du bi-hamdihi wa-l-mala'ikatu min khifatih.
“Glory to the One whom thunder glorifies with His praise, and the angels out of fear of Him.”

Not a saying of the Prophet ﷺ: Imam Malik reports that 'Amir ibn 'Abdullah ibn az-Zubayr would stop talking when he heard thunder and say this, and al-Adab al-Mufrad reports the same practice from his father, the Companion 'Abdullah ibn az-Zubayr. The words echo the Quran (ar-Ra'd 13:13).
Du'a 4 · Hisn al-Muslim
When the wind blows: its good, and refuge from its evil
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْــــــأَلُكَ خَيْرَهَا، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا
Allahumma inni as'aluka khayraha, wa a'udhu bika min sharriha
“O Allah, I ask You for its good, and I seek refuge in You from its evil.”
Sunan Abi Dawud 5097 (sahih), Sunan Ibn Majah 3727 (sahih)
The Prophet ﷺ said the wind comes from the mercy of Allah (SWT), so do not curse it, but ask Allah (SWT) for its good and seek refuge from its harm.
Du'a 5 · Hisn al-Muslim
In a strong wind: the good it has been sent with
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَهَا، وَخَيْرَ مَا فِيهَا، وَخَيْرَ مَا أُرْسِلَتْ بِهِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا، وَشَرِّ مَا فِيهَا، وَشَرِّ مَا أُرْسِلَتْ بِهِ
Allahumma inni as'aluka khayraha, wa khayra ma fiha, wa khayra ma ursilat bih, wa a'udhu bika min sharriha, wa sharri ma fiha, wa sharri ma ursilat bih
“O Allah, I ask You for its good, the good within it, and the good it has been sent with. And I seek refuge in You from its evil, the evil within it, and the evil it has been sent with.”

The Prophet ﷺ said this when a strong wind blew.
Du'a 6 · Hisn al-Muslim
Asking for rain: rain that brings relief
اللَّهُمَّ اسْقِنَا غَيْثاً مُغِيثاً مَرِيئاً مَرِيعاً، نَافِعاً غَيْرَ ضَارٍّ، عَاجِلاً غَيْرَ آجِلٍ
Allahumma-sqina ghaythan mughithan, mari'an mari'an, nafi'an ghayra darr, 'ajilan ghayra ajil
“O Allah, give us rain that brings relief, wholesome and fruitful, beneficial and not harmful, soon and not delayed.”
Sunan Abi Dawud 1169 (sahih)
The Prophet ﷺ made this du'a when people came to him weeping because of drought.
Du'a 7 · Hisn al-Muslim
Asking for rain: Allahumma aghithna
اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا
Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna
“O Allah, relieve us with rain. O Allah, relieve us with rain. O Allah, relieve us with rain.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 1014, Sahih Muslim 897
The Prophet ﷺ said this from the minbar during the Friday sermon when people complained of drought.
Du'a 8 · Hisn al-Muslim
Asking for rain: give water to Your servants
اللَّهُمَّ اسْقِ عِبَادَكَ، وَبَهَائِمَكَ، وَانْشُرْ رَحْمَتَكَ، وَأَحْيِي بَلَدَكَ الْمَيِّتَ
Allahumma-sqi 'ibadaka wa baha'imak, wanshur rahmatak, wa ahyi baladaka-l-mayyit
“O Allah, give water to Your servants and Your animals, spread Your mercy, and bring Your dead land back to life.”
Sunan Abi Dawud 1176 (hasan)
The Prophet ﷺ said this when asking Allah (SWT) for rain.
Du'a 9 · Hisn al-Muslim
In heavy rain: around us, not upon us
اللَّهُمَّ حَوَالَيْنَا وَلاَ عَلَيْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ عَلَى الآكَامِ وَالظِّرَابِ، وَبُطُونِ الْأَوْدِيَةِ، وَمَنَابِتِ الشَّجَرِ
Allahumma hawalayna wa la 'alayna, Allahumma 'ala-l-akami wa-dh-dhirab, wa butuni-l-awdiyah, wa manabiti-sh-shajar
“O Allah, around us and not upon us. O Allah, upon the hillocks and the high ground, the valley floors, and the places where trees grow.”

The Prophet ﷺ said this when heavy rain continued and people feared harm.
