That day

One ayah. One hadith. One name. Quiet things, in their place.

Al-Hujurat 49:12

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooijtaniboo katheeran mina aththanni innabaAAda aththanni ithmun walatajassasoo wala yaghtab baAAdukum baAAdanayuhibbu ahadukum an ya/kula lahma akheehimaytan fakarihtumoohu wattaqoo Allaha inna Allahatawwabun raheem

O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear Allāh; indeed, Allāh is Accepting of Repentance and Merciful.

Avoid much suspicion. Some suspicion is sin. Do not spy, and do not backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother?

Sahih al-Bukhari 10, Sahih Muslim 40

Safe from your tongue and hand

Al-muslimu man salima-l-muslimuna min lisanihi wa yadih, wa-l-muhajiru man hajara ma naha-llahu 'anh.

The Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe, and the emigrant is the one who leaves what Allah has forbidden.

Narrated by Abdullah ibn Amr.
