Love for the Prophet ﷺ
Faith is incomplete until he ﷺ is more beloved than family. Why, and how that love translates into action.
Outline
- 1
Love that meets a standard
The Prophet ﷺ said none of you believes until I am more beloved to him than his father, his children, and all of mankind (Bukhari 15). Love here is not a feeling we drum up; it is the kind of love that prefers his guidance over our own preference.
- 2
Salawat
Sending blessings on the Prophet ﷺ is the most concrete daily act of love. Allah sends ten blessings back for each one (Muslim 408). On Fridays, there is a recommended increase — say it abundantly today.
- 3
Following his Sunnah
Love is shown by imitation. Pray as he prayed. Eat as he ate. Treat your spouse as he treated his. The smallest Sunnah, kept consistently, weighs more than great occasional gestures.
Closing line
Allahumma salli wa sallim wa baarik 'ala nabiyyina Muhammad.
Aisha (RA) reported: the Prophet's ﷺ khutbahs were of moderate length and his prayers were short (Sahih Muslim 869). Aim for fifteen to twenty minutes. Two sections separated by a brief sitting is the Sunnah pattern.
