Hasten to break the fast

Thursday, January 1, 2004

لَا يَزَالُ النَّاسُ بِخَيْرٍ مَا عَجَّلُوا الْفِطْرَ
Transliteration

La yazalu-n-nasu bi-khayrin ma ajjalu-l-fitr.

Translation

The people will remain in goodness as long as they hasten to break the fast.

Narrated by Sahl ibn Sa'd·Sahih al-Bukhari 1957, Sahih Muslim 1098
Reflection

The Sunnah is to break with a date or water the moment the call is made, not minutes after. Hold to the time the Prophet ﷺ held to.

One saying of the Prophet ﷺ a day.

Pair this with the daily verse, the 99 Names, and a few beads of dhikr. Small things, repeated, leave the deepest mark.
