Hadith for · haya

Haya brings nothing but good

Sunday, August 3, 2003

الْحَيَاءُ لَا يَأْتِي إِلَّا بِخَيْرٍ
Transliteration

Al-haya'u la ya'ti illa bi-khayr.

Translation

Modesty brings nothing but good.

Narrated by Imran ibn Husayn·Sahih al-Bukhari 6117, Sahih Muslim 37
Reflection

An axiom. Not most of the time. Not on balance. Only good. If a thing claims to be haya but yields harm, it is not haya, it is something else.

One saying of the Prophet ﷺ a day.

Pair this with the daily verse, the 99 Names, and a few beads of dhikr. Small things, repeated, leave the deepest mark.
