Best charity is to a close relative

Tuesday, July 2, 2002

أَفْضَلُ الصَّدَقَةِ عَلَى ذِي الرَّحِمِ الْكَاشِحِ
Transliteration

Afdalu-s-sadaqati ala dhi-r-rahimi-l-kashih.

Translation

The best charity is to the relative who harbours animosity.

Narrated by Abu Ayyub·Musnad Ahmad 23074
Reflection

Not the stranger you will never see again. The cousin who slighted you. The uncle who cut ties. That gift carries the highest reward, because it costs the most.
