Do good when you can

Wednesday, January 29, 1964

افْعَلُوا الْخَيْرَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ
Transliteration

If'alu-l-khayra wa law bi-shiqqi tamrah.

Translation

Do good, even with half a date.

Narrated by 'Adi ibn Hatim·Sahih al-Bukhari 1413, Sahih Muslim 1016
Reflection

The smallest thing counted. If you only have half a date, give the half. Waiting for more lets the good never start.

One saying of the Prophet ﷺ a day.

Pair this with the daily verse, the 99 Names, and a few beads of dhikr. Small things, repeated, leave the deepest mark.
