A place for du'a and kindness.
Please help us keep it that way.
The Ummah in Barakah Life is where believers ask for du'a, make du'a for each other, give thanks, reflect and ask gentle questions. These guidelines cover everything you share there: posts, replies, stories, follows and reactions. You agree to them before you first share anything.
You must be 18 or older
The Ummah is for adults. Before you post, reply or share a story, you confirm that you are 18 or older. If we learn that someone under 18 is sharing in the Ummah, we remove what they shared and close their access to it.
What belongs here
- Du'a requests, and du'a for others. Leave out names and private details of other people.
- Gratitude, reflections and gentle questions about the deen.
- Ayat, hadith and du'as shared with their reference.
- Kind, patient words, even when you disagree.
No tolerance for harmful content or abusive people
We do not allow objectionable content or abusive behaviour of any kind. That includes:
- Insults, harassment, bullying, threats, and urging anyone to harm themselves.
- Hate against any people, faith, race, nationality or school of thought.
- Sect or political fights, declaring other Muslims disbelievers, and debates about who is right.
- Sexual content, nudity or immodest images, and anything that sexualises anyone.
- Violence, gore, weapons, and anything illegal where you live.
- Images that depict a prophet, peace be upon them.
- Links, phone numbers, email addresses and social media handles.
- Selling, advertising, spam and scams.
- Sharing someone's private details, or photos of someone without their permission.
- Content you know to be fabricated about Islam, and claiming religious authority you do not have.
Photos
Every photo is checked automatically before anyone sees it. Photos that break these guidelines are refused, and photos the check is unsure about are held for a person to review.
- Posts can carry up to 10 photos. Photos of people are held for review, so a post about a place, a meal, a page or a view is the gentle choice.
- Stories may show faces, your own or of people who are happy to be shared. Keep them modest, and never share anyone without their permission.
Stories
A story is a short text or photo, or something you share from the app such as an ayah or a du'a. It stays for 24 hours and then disappears. You choose who sees it: everyone, your followers, or your circle (people you pick yourself).
Stories follow the same guidelines as posts. People can answer a story only with a quick reaction. There are no replies to stories and no private messages anywhere in Barakah Life. You see how many people viewed and reacted to your story, never who.
Follows and reactions
- Anyone can follow you, and follower counts are public. You hear about someone's new posts or stories only if you tap the bell on their profile.
- Anonymous du'a requests are never shown to your followers and never appear in anyone's Following feed.
- A post can receive one reaction from each person: Ameen, Love, Like, Agree, MashaAllah or JazakAllah. Reactions are counted, and nobody, not even the author, sees who reacted.
- In replies you can mention people from the conversation by choosing them from a list. A mention is not a message.
Filter, report and block
- Filter. Every post, reply, story and caption passes a word filter. Abusive language, links and contact details are refused, and words that start sect or political fights are held for a person to review.
- Report. You can report any post, reply, story or person from its menu. Reports are private: the person you report is never told who reported them.
- Automatic hiding. A story is hidden as soon as two people report it, and a post or reply after three, until a moderator has looked at it.
- Block. You can block anyone from their post, reply, story or profile. Neither of you then sees the other's posts, replies or stories, and any follow between you is removed.
How we respond
Every report reaches a moderator, and we act on reports within 24 hours. Content that breaks these guidelines is removed, and people who break them are suspended or removed from the Ummah, for good when it is serious or repeated. You can delete anything you shared at any time.
To reach us about something you saw in the Ummah, write to support@barakah.life. A person reads every message.
Changes
When these guidelines change in a way you should know about, the app asks you to read and agree to them again before you next share. They sit alongside our terms and our privacy policy.
