Afwan: Meaning, Pronunciation, and When to Use It

Pardon.
When to say it
Say afwan before asking a stranger a question, when moving past someone, or after a minor interruption. It is also a common reply to shukran, thank you. The surrounding conversation tells you which meaning is intended.
This is practical Modern Standard Arabic. Local speech changes from place to place, but this wording is respectful and widely understood.

The answer depends on why someone said afwan. There is no fixed response.
