What does 'Awrah mean?

The parts of the body that must be covered, in prayer and in front of others.

'Awrah explained

For a man the awrah is from the navel to the knees; for a woman in front of non-mahram men it is everything except the face and hands, with the schools differing on details. Covering it is a condition of prayer.
