How Do You Pronounce Dad (ض)?
A heavy, full-mouthed D. Famously unique to Arabic.
The sound, and why English cannot spell it
English has no ض, and Arabic is proudly called the language of the Dad because almost no other language has it either. Start from d, then say it with the sides of the tongue pressed against the upper molars and the whole mouth heavy and full.
The vowels around it darken the same way as with Sad. You meet it in the last ayah of Surah al-Fatiha, وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ (wa lad-dallin).
Do not stress about perfection early on. Consistent listening and repeating with a teacher or recording is how every non-Arab learner earns this letter.

Arabic letters change shape by position, alone, at the start, in the middle, and at the end of a word.
