Maintaining a masjid includes more than its walls
Allah connects maintaining His mosques with faith, prayer, zakat and reverence for Him (at-Tawbah 9:18). Buildings matter, but the deeper life of a masjid is the worship and courage cultivated inside them.

Attachment to the masjid is an attachment of the heart
Among the seven shaded by Allah is a person whose heart is attached to the mosques (Bukhari 660). That attachment grows through repeated prayer, learning, service and the experience of being welcomed back.

Belonging must be made visible
Notice the newcomer standing alone, the convert unsure what to do, the child being corrected without warmth and the person with a disability facing an avoidable barrier. Hospitality is not separate from maintaining the house of Allah.
Second khutbah
Turn love for the masjid into shared responsibility. Cleanliness, funding, safeguarding, teaching and a warm welcome cannot be left to the same exhausted few.
O Allah, fill our masjids with sincere worship, sound knowledge and mercy. Make them safe and welcoming for our families, our elders, our youth and those returning to You.
Learn one new person's name this Friday and take responsibility for one recurring need in the masjid, however small.
