Visiting the sick

Friday, July 4, 2003

مَنْ عَادَ مَرِيضًا لَمْ يَزَلْ فِي خُرْفَةِ الْجَنَّةِ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ
Transliteration

Man 'ada maridan lam yazal fi khurfati-l-jannati hatta yarji'.

Translation

Whoever visits a sick person remains in the orchard of Paradise until he returns.

Narrated by Thawban·Sahih Muslim 2568
Reflection

The walk to the door, the time at the bedside, the walk home. The whole errand is counted as time in a garden. Visit even when it is awkward.
