كُنْ فِي الدُّنْيَا كَأَنَّكَ غَرِيبٌ أَوْ عَابِرُ سَبِيلٍ
Transliteration

Kun fi-d-dunya ka-annaka gharibun aw abiru sabil.

Translation

Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveller on the road.

Narrated by Abdullah ibn Umar·Sahih al-Bukhari 6416·Nawawi's Forty · #40
Reflection

Ibn Umar would add: When evening comes, do not wait for morning. When morning comes, do not wait for evening. The traveller does not unpack heavily.
