What stays with you

يَتْبَعُ الْمَيِّتَ ثَلَاثَةٌ، فَيَرْجِعُ اثْنَانِ وَيَبْقَى مَعَهُ وَاحِدٌ، يَتْبَعُهُ أَهْلُهُ وَمَالُهُ وَعَمَلُهُ، فَيَرْجِعُ أَهْلُهُ وَمَالُهُ، وَيَبْقَى عَمَلُهُ

Yatba'u-l-mayyita thalathah, fa-yarji'u-thnani wa yabqa ma'ahu wahid, yatba'uhu ahluhu wa maluhu wa 'amaluh, fa-yarji'u ahluhu wa maluh, wa yabqa 'amaluh.

"Three follow the dead person: two return and one stays with him. His family, his wealth and his deeds follow him; his family and his wealth return, and his deeds stay."

A short reflection

Family walks you to the grave and goes home. Wealth goes home too. Only the deeds stay, and today is still a day to add to them.
