"A man was walking along a road and became extremely thirsty. He found a well, climbed down, drank, and climbed out. He then saw a dog panting and licking the moist earth from thirst. The man said: This dog is as thirsty as I was. He climbed back down, filled his shoe with water, held it in his mouth as he climbed out, and gave the dog to drink. Allah was grateful and forgave him."
Narrated by Abu Hurayrah. Sahih al-Bukhari 2363, Sahih Muslim 2244
A short reflection
He filled his shoe. He climbed twice. The companions asked: O Messenger of Allah, is there reward for us in animals? He said: In every living liver, a reward.
