Honour the elder
لَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ لَمْ يَرْحَمْ صَغِيرَنَا، وَيَعْرِفْ شَرَفَ كَبِيرِنَا
Laysa minna man lam yarham saghirana, wa ya'rif sharafa kabirina.
"He is not one of us who does not show mercy to our young, nor recognise the right of our elder."

Two directions of respect. Mercy down to the young. Recognition up to the old. The ummah breathes when both are held.
