Honour the elder
مَنْ لَمْ يَرْحَمْ صَغِيرَنَا وَيَعْرِفْ حَقَّ كَبِيرِنَا فَلَيْسَ مِنَّا
Man lam yarham saghirana wa ya'rif haqqa kabirina fa-laysa minna.
"Whoever does not show mercy to our young and does not recognise the right of our elders is not one of us."

Two directions of respect. Mercy down to the young. Recognition up to the old. The ummah breathes when both are held.
