The world is cursed, except…

الدُّنْيَا مَلْعُونَةٌ، مَلْعُونٌ مَا فِيهَا إِلَّا ذِكْرَ اللَّهِ وَمَا وَالَاهُ، وَعَالِمًا أَوْ مُتَعَلِّمًا

Ad-dunya mal'unah, mal'unun ma fiha, illa dhikra-llahi wa ma walah, wa 'aliman aw muta'alliman.

"The world is cursed, and what is in it is cursed, except for remembrance of Allah and what brings one closer to Him, and a teacher or a student."

Narrated by Abu Hurayrah. Jami' at-Tirmidhi 2322 (hasan)
