وَيَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَسْتَ مُرْسَلًۭا ۚ قُلْ كَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدًۢا بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكُمْ وَمَنْ عِندَهُۥ عِلْمُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ

Wayaqoolu allatheena kafaroo lastamursalan qul kafa billahi shaheedan bayneewabaynakum waman AAindahu AAilmu alkitab

"And those who have disbelieved say, "You are not a messenger." Say, [O Muḥammad], "Sufficient is Allāh as Witness between me and you, and [the witness of] whoever has knowledge of the Scripture.""

Allah and those who have Knowledge of the Scripture are Sufficient as Witness to the Message of the Prophet

Allah says, the disbelievers reject you and say,

لَسْتَ مُرْسَلاً

(You are not a Messenger.) from Allah,

قُلْ كَفَى بِاللَّهِ شَهِيداً بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ

(Say: "Sufficient as a witness between me and you is Allah...") meaning, say, `Allah is sufficient for me and He is the witness over me and you. He is witness that I (Muhammad) have conveyed the Message from Him and over you, O rejecters, to the falsehood that you invent.' Allah said,

وَمَنْ عِندَهُ عِلْمُ الْكِتَـبِ

(and those too who have knowledge of the Scripture.) This refers to `Abdullah bin Salam, according to Mujahid. However, this opinion is not plausible, since this Ayah was revealed in Makkah and `Abdullah bin Salam embraced Islam soon after the Prophet emigrated to Al-Madinah. A more suitable explanation is that narrated by Al-`Awfi from Ibn `Abbas that this Ayah refers to Jews and Christians. Qatadah said that among them are, `Abdullah bin Salam, Salman (Al-Farisi) and Tamim Ad-Dari. The correct view is that this Ayah,

وَمَنْ عِندَهُ

(and those too who have. ..), refers to the scholars of the People of the Scriptures who find the description of Muhammad in their Books and the good news of his advent that were conveyed to them by their Prophets. Allah said in other Ayat,

وَرَحْمَتِى وَسِعَتْ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ فَسَأَكْتُبُهَا لِلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ وَيُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَـوةَ وَالَّذِينَ هُم بِـَايَـتِنَا يُؤْمِنُونَالَّذِينَ يَتَّبِعُونَ الرَّسُولَ النَّبِىَّ الأُمِّىَّ الَّذِى يَجِدُونَهُ مَكْتُوبًا عِندَهُمْ فِى التَّوْرَاةِ وَالإِنجِيلِ

(And My mercy embraces all things. That (mercy) I shall ordain for those who have Taqwa, and give Zakah; and those who believe in Our Ayat; Those who follow the Messenger, the Prophet who can neither read nor write whom they find written with them in the Tawrah and the Injil.) 7:156-157 and,

أَوَلَمْيَكُن لَّهُمْ ءَايَةً أَن يَعْلَمَهُ عُلَمَاءُ بَنِى إِسْرَءِيلَ

(It is not a sign to them that the learned scholars of the Children of Israel knew it (as true))26:197 There are similar Ayat that affirm that the scholars of the Children of Israel know this fact from their divinely revealed Books. This is the end of Surat Ar-Ra`d, and all praise is due to Allah and all favors are from Him.

О Пророк! Неверные отвергают тебя и то, что ты проповедуешь. И если они потребуют от тебя назвать свидетелей, которые могут подтвердить твою правдивость, то скажи, что достаточно свидетельства Аллаха, Который подтверждает твою правдивость словом, делом и одобрением. Он подтверждает твою правдивость словом, когда ниспосылает тебе откровение. Он подтверждает ее делом, когда одаряет тебя Своей поддержкой и помогает тебе одержать победу, которая выше твоих возможностей и возможностей твоих сподвижников. Эта поддержка - не что иное, как Божий поступок, свидетельствующий в твою пользу. Он также подтверждает твою правдивость Своим одобрением, ведь ты называешь себя Божьим посланником от Его имени, повелеваешь людям повиноваться тебе от Его имени, обещаешь своим последователям Его милость и благосклонность от Его имени, обещаешь ослушникам Его гнев и адское наказание от Его имени, позволяешь себе покушаться на жизнь и имущество неверующих от Его имени, и Он одобряет твои поступки. А если бы ты говорил от имени Аллаха ложь, то тебя постигло бы скорое возмездие. А еще твоими свидетелями являются праведники, обладающие знанием о Священных Писаниях. Это относится к иудейским и христианским богословам. Те из них, которые уверовали и покорились истине, открыто свидетельствуют в твою пользу. Безусловно, многие из них скрывают это свидетельство, но Всевышний Аллах поведал о том, что им известна истина, и слова Всевышнего Аллаха являются более правдивыми, чем заявления таких людей. Если бы у них не было этого свидетельства, то они опровергли бы подобные коранические откровения, опираясь на убедительные доводы, однако они предпочитают молчать. А это значит, что они умалчивают истинное свидетельство. Аллах повелел людям Писания засвидетельствовать правдивость Пророка Мухаммада, да благословит его Аллах и приветствует, потому что они обладают соответствующими знаниями. Свидетельствовать о любом происшествии должен тот, кто знает о нем больше других, а не тот, кто не имеет к этому происшествию никакого отношения. И поэтому арабам-язычникам и другим невежественным народам не было велено засвидетельствовать истинность пророческой миссии Мухаммада, да благословит его Аллах и приветствует. Их свидетельство было бы бессмысленным, потому что они не обладали соответствующими познаниями. А лучше всего об этом известно Аллаху.

In verse وَإِن مَّا نُرِ‌يَنَّكَ بَعْضَ الَّذِي نَعِدُهُمْ أَوْ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ (And if We show you some of what We promise them, or We take you back to Us), it is to comfort and assure the Holy Prophet ﷺ that he has been given the good news that the promises Allah has made to him that Islam will have the final victory and disbelief and disbelievers will be disgraced shall come to pass definitely. But, he is told, 'you should not concern yourself as to when this victory will finally come.' May be, this happens within his life time, and it is also possible that it comes after his departure from this mortal world. ` For your peace of heart, even this much is enough that you are continuously witnessing that We are causing the lands of the dis-believers to keep being sliced off their sides,' that is, these sides pass on under Muslim control whereby the land occupied by them keeps reducing in area. This causes well-being for Muslims and a day will come when the final phase of their victory shall stand completed. The command is in the very hands of Allah Ta` ala. There is no one who can avert this command. And He is the One swift at reckoning.
