Living with the Quran
The Quran was sent to be lived, not displayed. Practical steps to take it down from the shelf and put it back at the centre.
Outline
- 1
The Quran was sent to be reflected upon
Allah says: a blessed Book We have sent down to you, that they may reflect upon its verses (Sad 38:29). Tadabbur, not just tilawah. Recitation is the entry door; reflection is the room.
- 2
The page-a-day method
One page a day finishes the Quran in a year and a half. With reflection on each page, that is the most transformative habit a Muslim can pick up. The Prophet ﷺ said: the most beloved deeds to Allah are those done consistently, even if small (Bukhari 6464).
- 3
Recite, look up, repeat
Recite the page in Arabic. Read the translation. Read one tafsir note. Mark one verse to keep with you. Repeat tomorrow on the next page. This is enough.
Closing line
Make the dua of the Quran's own people: Rabbi zidni ilma — my Lord, increase me in knowledge.
Aisha (RA) reported: the Prophet's ﷺ khutbahs were of moderate length and his prayers were short (Sahih Muslim 869). Aim for fifteen to twenty minutes. Two sections separated by a brief sitting is the Sunnah pattern.
