The best of you to your wives

The Prophet ﷺ said: the best of you is the best to his family. What that looks like when nobody is watching.

Centrepiece
Sunan at-Tirmidhi 3895, Sunan Ibn Majah 1977

Outline

  1. 1

The home is where the heart is measured

The Prophet ﷺ said: the best of you is the best to his family, and I am the best of you to my family (Tirmidhi 3895, sahih). Character at the masjid is one thing; character at home, when nobody is performing, is the real reading.

  2. 2

    He helped at home

Aisha (RA) was asked what the Prophet ﷺ did at home. She said: he was in the service of his family — until prayer time came (Bukhari 676). The man whose sandal-strap was worth more than the world helped with the dishes.

  3. 3

Three habits that change a marriage

Begin sentences with thanks. End the day with apology for whatever you did wrong, even small. Make du'a for your spouse by name, where they can't hear. These habits cost nothing and rebuild what stress slowly takes apart.

Closing line

O Allah, place mawaddah and rahmah between us. Forgive our impatience with the ones You gave us to love.

Aisha (RA) reported: the Prophet's ﷺ khutbahs were of moderate length and his prayers were short (Sahih Muslim 869). Aim for fifteen to twenty minutes. Two sections separated by a brief sitting is the Sunnah pattern.
