Beware of envy

إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْحَسَدَ فَإِنَّ الْحَسَدَ يَأْكُلُ الْحَسَنَاتِ كَمَا تَأْكُلُ النَّارُ الْحَطَبَ

Iyyakum wa-l-hasad, fa-inna-l-hasada ya'kulu-l-hasanati kama ta'kulu-n-naru-l-hatab.

"Beware of envy, for envy consumes good deeds as fire consumes wood."

Narrated by Abu Hurayrah. Sunan Abi Dawud 4903 (hasan)
